Spiders can easily invade your home via openings like the chimney or via open windows. They can immediately construct their webs in any corner of your house within a couple of hours. Spiders can also lay numerous eggs that will spell a disaster when your are trying to control their population. In order to take care of these web crawlers easily, there are spider prevention tips, tricks and suggestions that you can refer to below for more information.

Like other pests and insects, spiders are usually attracted to light. If your porch contains numerous lights light led bulbs and whatnot, then its necessary to make sure that you shut these lights off when not in use. This basic method will ensure that the spiders will not be attracted either to the porch lights or to the insects attracted by such lights which they may consider as their food. Another method of spider prevention with regard to lights is the use of dark-shaded bulbs. This shade will attract less insects and other pests, which will naturally reduce the presence of spiders preying on them.

You can also use essential oils to repel spiders. Typical examples of oils that they hate are citronella and cinnamon. Experts also recommend the use of cloves and tea tree leaves that are dried and minced. Just the mere presence of these essential oils and dried leaves can deter spiders. If you directly (physically) apply these to cracks, crevices, window seals and other areas prone to spiders then you will be able to keep them out of your home easily. What keeps these web crawlers away is the strong smell of these essential oils. They cant stand the strong smell emitting from these oils, hence they will stay away from areas that have been smeared by it as much as possible.

Application of essential oils can also be done via spray bottles. Since essential oils can be costly if used purely, you can add water to it. By mixing a few drops of your preferred essential oil to a cup of water, you can use a spray bottle to conveniently spray this concoction to spider-prone areas all around your house, porch, and other hard to reach places. A bottle of peppermint oil or citronella oil can be used to concoct numerous batches of this anti-spider spray, which will eventually save you on tens or even hundreds of dollars when compared to hiring professional help.

In general, spider prevention methods must be done at least once a month. Application of the essential oils and other spider repelling stuff must be done continuously in order to ensure that the spider population is kept under control within the area of your home. For rural homes, these methods must be done more often, at least once every two weeks. The rationale for this is that rural areas naturally contain more spider species when compared to urban ones, especially with regard to rural homes located near forests, bodies of water, gardens and the like.
