Sid -- you bring up an extremely important point. The fact is that improved efficiencies is the clearest, fastest path to reduced GHG emissions and energy savings.
Your concept of generating water from waste exhaust is intriguing. We haven't heard of a process like this before. Detailing here could open some eyes.

There is a lot of WASTE heat going into the atmosphere from these gas fired boilers that are used to produce this electricity.
What if this energy was recovered from this waste exhaust, and this energy was transferred into water. This heated water could then provide building space heating and cooling to possibly hundreds of acres of commercial greenhouse. In these greenhouse FOOD could be grown in the form of vegetables and fruit. What can't be grown in an ideal climate.
Can you imagine being one of these 100's or 1000's of employees who each day have to show up to work in this tropical climate, attending to these plants and picking and packaging these fruits and vegetables. What will the income do for the local economy?
Not only will the waste heat be utilized, but also the now COOLED CO2 gasses. These gases will be blown into these greenhouses for CO2 enrichment (fertilizer), and with the design of God for this earth, through the process of photosynthesis this gas is converted into O2, oxygen, something we all need.
And then there is the WATER that is being produced through this condensing flue gas heat recovery process. This water can be treated and then used tom irrigate these crops being grown in these greenhouses. Do Not Waste The Water.

There are ways to become more energy efficient, if that is where our governments and industry and population want to see our environment going towards.
Energy Efficiency = Profit
Energy efficiency = Reduced Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Your thoughts?

I am in favor of wyoming keeping its lead in energy production, this project will help us do that ,and at the samr time create much neede wyoming jobs.As an oilfield worker this is too good to pass up for minimal surface disturbance. Evan if there is opposition to this the theory that needs to be looked at is this: If we were to build houses there instead of developing it as a gas field,we may never recover the resources. HOWEVER ,if we pull the resources out of the ground first,we can always build on the surface later! that is a concept the ill thought out enviromentalists forget to look at.I am all for takeing care of our habitat, but dont stop progress and jobs for resources that otherwise would not be used! I'm all for this project to move forward Thank you Ken

Streamlining the permitting process is a good step. However, there are still significant market-related barriers that may be greater than those associated with permitting. The added cost to wind resulting from the transmission projects can be significantly mitigated by the development of the pumped storage projects proposed by Gridflex Energy both in Wyoming and in southern Nevada. These cost-effective energy storage projects will allow Wyoming wind to make much more efficient use of transmission capacity, as well as offer the California market a product that's been shaped and firmed with wind itself (via storage).

No, Mary, the energy company completed the sale of its Wyoming leases in Natrona County a couple of years ago, in order to continue developmental drilling programs in Woodson County, Kansas. Here is a link to our original story on the asset sale: http://wyomingenergynews.com/2008/10/hemi-energy-reports-divestiture-of-wyoming-oil-and-gas-lease/
