I am in favor of wyoming keeping its lead in energy production, this project will help us do that ,and at the samr time create much neede wyoming jobs.As an oilfield worker this is too good to pass up for minimal surface disturbance. Evan if there is opposition to this the theory that needs to be looked at is this: If we were to build houses there instead of developing it as a gas field,we may never recover the resources. HOWEVER ,if we pull the resources out of the ground first,we can always build on the surface later! that is a concept the ill thought out enviromentalists forget to look at.I am all for takeing care of our habitat, but dont stop progress and jobs for resources that otherwise would not be used! I'm all for this project to move forward Thank you Ken

Streamlining the permitting process is a good step. However, there are still significant market-related barriers that may be greater than those associated with permitting. The added cost to wind resulting from the transmission projects can be significantly mitigated by the development of the pumped storage projects proposed by Gridflex Energy both in Wyoming and in southern Nevada. These cost-effective energy storage projects will allow Wyoming wind to make much more efficient use of transmission capacity, as well as offer the California market a product that's been shaped and firmed with wind itself (via storage).

No, Mary, the energy company completed the sale of its Wyoming leases in Natrona County a couple of years ago, in order to continue developmental drilling programs in Woodson County, Kansas. Here is a link to our original story on the asset sale: http://wyomingenergynews.com/2008/10/hemi-energy-reports-divestiture-of-wyoming-oil-and-gas-lease/

Here is a suggestion to those wondering if they should wait or sign a lease. Nobody knows if this will develop into another Bakken type oil play. It appear it may be a large one, geographically and economically. Yet many an oil boom has quickly become a bust.

If you own 10 net acres you might just wait awhile longer. If the "boom" turns into a bust you'll lose out on a little. However, if you own 400 net or 4,000 acres consider signing a lease now for half of your interest. Then see if your other half appreciates after they've been drilling for a year or two. You may get $0 for the 2nd half, or five times the numbers offered today. This is just food for thought. However, if you like this advice MAKE SURE you hire an attorney to review your lease before signing to ensure it only leases that portion of your minerals and not your entire interest.

Does anyone know what the typical surface use and damage agreement is paying for the newly drilled oil wells? Usually they pay an initial payment and a yearly rental. What are these amounts typically? Are landowners charging for anything else? How about survey or seismograph work? How about traffic on private land or water sales? Thanks!
