Wyoming Senators Want to Overturn Federal
Oil & Gas Regs

CHEYENNE — Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming has joined Utah Sen. Bob Bennett in introducing legislation that would overturn new Interior Department oil and gas rules. Given the ongoing oil leak disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, the timing is curious to say the least, and how much support the proposal will receive from other Washington D.C. politicians is anybody’s guess.
The bill aims to eliminate what the Republican senators call the bureaucratic red tape and increased delays that will result from the new rules.
Barrasso says the nation cannot afford the Obama administration’s red-tape regulations for onshore oil and gas development, adding that the regulations will do nothing to reduce litigation and will do everything to hamstring energy jobs and energy security.
Fellow Wyoming Republican Sen. Mike Enzi is among the co-sponsors.
