Board Criticizes Wind Report Process

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department should slow its efforts to craft wildlife habitat guidelines for wind projects, Natrona County commissioners said after their regular meeting Tuesday.
“There’s no need to rush this through,” Barb Peryam said.
However, the official who will present “Wildlife Protection Recommendations for Wind Energy Development in Wyoming” to the Game and Fish Commission meeting on April 23 in Casper said the agency has worked on the report since August.
Tuesday, rancher and publisher Dennis Sun and Pathfinder Wind land agent Victor Garber distributed a statement by Glenrock rancher Richard Grant voicing objections to the recommendations.
“Landowners across the state’s wind corridor are describing the BMP [Best Management Practices] proposal as too burdensome, lacking in the on-the-ground partnerships and as an infringement on private property rights,” Grant wrote.
