ROCK SPRINGSĀ - A reminder — the BLM’s public meeting on Sweetwater County’s first major commercial wind power project proposed for White Mountain
is scheduled for February 24th. The location will be the Young at Heart Senior Center.
The agency has already released its environmental study of the project, in which it examines the potential environmental impacts of Teton Wind, LLC’s proposal for southwest Wyoming. The developer is a wholly owned subsidiary of Utah-based Tasco Engineering, Inc.
It is proposing to construct up to 240 wind turbines on roughly 13,165 acres atop White Mountain, which lies west and northwest of Rock Springs, and says that if fully developed, the project could provide approximately 1 million megawatts of annual electricity.
The project area includes 8,527 acres of private lands and 4,398 acres of BLM-administered public lands.
BLM officials said two sessions are scheduled on the 24th, one starts at 4 PM, followed by a second session beginning at 6 PM. The assessment can be viewed on the agency’s Web site at http://www.blm.gov/wy.
