LUSK -  In a sure sign that Wyoming’s wind energy sector ontinues to heat up, industrial service provider BIS Salamis, which serves the petrochemical, utilities, and energy
industries, has expanded its services into the alternative energy industry.

The  company’s new Alternative Energy Division based in Lusk will specialize in wind turbine preventive maintenance and service clients throughout North America.

The United States now leads the world in addding wind energy to the electrical grid, and the big uptick in wind turbine installations has greatly amplified the demand for preventive and unscheduled turbine maintenance. Coupled with the fact that nearly 60% of the active wind turbines in the U.S. are behind on their scheduled maintenance, the industry is faced with a real shortage of service providers.

Using new predictive-analytic technologies, BIS Salamis technicians can monitor turbine performance and detect degradation ahead of time — this allows for quick repairs which curb the need for costly replacement of major components.

The services offered by the Wind Power Division include wind turbine inspections, oil changes, bolt tensioning and torque checks, gear box rebuilding and generator maintenance. BIS Salamis technicians will perform  blade cleaning and repair as well as tower cleaning and painting.

A spokesman for BIS Salamis said the new division will create several well paying technical jobs to contribute to the economic climate in the Lusk area.
