Report Details Best Areas in State for Wind Projects
By WEN Staff
CHEYENNE - A conservation group has released a new report detailing where it believes wind energy projects can be located in Wyoming without running into environmental or wildlife conflicts.
The report from Laramie-based Biodiversity Conservation Alliance says the most ideal place to locate wind farms based on wind resource is southeast Wyoming.
According to the report, this area of the state also has the least amount of potential environmental and wildlife conflicts for such projects. It also outlines the locations in the state that should be avoided, and the places where the group says developers must tread carefully, for environmental reasons.
Biodiversity believes the study can help in the planning and
siting of wind farms.
However, an advocate for private property rights said she has
concerns about the report as it relates to the rights of
private landowners to determine whether their land could be
developed for wind.
